This April, at company ALFUN a.s., we launched in Bruntál the unique and most advanced coil storage system in the Czech Republic. This crane is necessary for the higher efficiency of material storage processes.
This technology consists of a new overhead crane 3-times faster than the original crane and an automatic warehouse system that plans and manages individual crane tasks.

This entire system has a connection to the company's ERP system, from which they request material for production directly from the lines. Thanks to this connection to production planning, the process crane can prepare coils for production in advance, i.e. to remove blocking coils for the fastest possible delivery of material to the line's hopper upon request.
This automatic system can store coils from the receipt of material and select the best position for them in the stock to minimise damage to the material caused by incorrect stacking. It moves the rolls blocking the material required for production and returns the rest of the rolls to the warehouse, weighs the rest himself and sends the value to the system. The crane also detects roll irregularities, for example, weight, width and flags such rolls for our inspection. The system also includes warehouse optimisation. When a crane has no transport task, it searches for better positions for coils in the warehouse.
Currently, in the warehouse is 953 positions available on the lower floor with the possibility of stacking up to 3 stages, and we now have over 1700 scrolls in this warehouse. Thanks to this system, we have an overview of all the rolls in the automatic warehouse, which helps when carrying out an inventory of our warehouses. We can adapt the storage system according to needs, e.g. when changing the size of the supplied rolls.
